Cracked Teeth
Endodontic treatment for cracked teeth focuses on addressing the damage caused by fractures that extend into the tooth’s inner structure. When a tooth cracks, it can expose the pulp, leading to pain, sensitivity, and potential infection. During the treatment, our endodontists will first assess the extent of the crack and determine if the pulp has been affected. If the crack is shallow and treatable, the dentist will perform a root canal procedure to remove the damaged pulp, clean the tooth’s interior, and seal it to prevent further issues. Following the endodontic treatment, the tooth is typically restored with a crown to provide added protection and functionality. If the crack is severe, extraction of the tooth may be required.
Cracked teeth are often caused by factors such as trauma, biting hard foods, or natural wear and tear. Addressing these issues with endodontic treatment helps to relieve pain, prevent infection, and preserve the tooth’s structure. Early intervention is key to successful treatment, as untreated cracks can lead to more severe complications and even tooth loss. By repairing and reinforcing the affected tooth, endodontic treatment allows patients to maintain their natural teeth and continue enjoying a healthy, functional smile.
